Very enlightening talk on "cholesterol" & ketogenic diet by Dr Paul Mason, a Sport Medicine Specialist, demystifying some of the fear & myths of "cholesterol"
1. Conventional docs always worry about increased LDL on keto. Its actually a myth. Keto decreases small dense LDL which is bad
2. Sugar damages LDL (glycation process) - turn it into oxidised LDL which is atherogenic & block the arteries
3. Low triglycerides (TG), preferably < 0.5 predicts low small dense LDL
4. TG/HDL ratio < 0.8 more predictive of low risk of cardiovascular event
5. Overall, keto diet decrease TG, increase HDL & decrease small dense LDL, thus decrease cardiovascular risk
